About
Jonathan and Betty Brower
Based in Danville, Virginia
Commended to the Lord’s Work in 1983
Growing up in New York, Jonathan and Betty knew each other but disconnected when Betty’s family relocated to Miami, Florida. Nevertheless, years later, in 1971, they reconnected and Jon and Betty were married at the family home In Miami.
The very next year, 1972, Jon and Betty accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior through the witness of Jon’s work supervisor. Immediately they began to fellowship with the believers at Bible Truth Chapel in Miami. During the next decade, their desire was to grow in the Lord, learn the Word, and seek God’s will for their lives. (Isaiah 6:8)
Seeing their desire to serve the Lord, in 1983 Jon and Betty were commended by the believers at Bible Truth Chapel in Miami for the work of the Lord through Bible teaching and camp ministry. For the next three years they traveled – Jon preaching and teaching the Word in assemblies and together serving at camps across the U.S. and Canada. They continue to serve the Lord in both spheres until the present.
In 1986, Jon, Betty and their young family were invited by the believers at Danville Bible Chapel, to relocate and join them in the fledgling church-planting work there. The Danville believers added their commendation to that of Bible Truth. During their first year in Danville the assembly continued to grow in numbers and as the result of a physical hands-on ministry a new chapel building was erected on donated land.
The work in Danville included a teaching ministry at the assembly, home Bible studies, evangelism, and “Faithful Words,” a weekly broadcast on Danville’s WBTM Radio. As a young man Jonathan was a gifted football and track athlete and that opened the door for Jon and Betty to volunteer for more than 30 years at the local inner city high school as coaches and Bible study leaders.
When not teaching and sharing the Word of God in the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean, Jon and Betty fellowship at Danville Bible Chapel. They have two children (Jesse and Rebecca) and two grandchildren.
